How easy is it to fall pregnant?

Once the egg is released during ovulation it remains in the fallopian tube for approximately 24 hours to be fertilised by the sperm after intercourse.  A Sperm can live for up to 3 to 5 days so the chances of becoming pregnant are increased by having intercourse 1 or 2 days before ovulation occurs.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2008) the increase in Total Fertility Rates was largely due to births to women aged 30 - 39 years who accounted for 55% of the increase.

Women aged 30 - 34 years experienced the highest fertility rate of all age groups in 2008.

Later pregnancies mean it is now more important than ever to be proactive in planning conception and take all of the steps available to increase the chances of conceiving.

The DISCOVER® 7 Day Pregnancy Planning Kit can be used by couples who want to take control of conception from the moment they decide to have a baby.  The woman's body gives the signal that ovulation is about to occur when there is an increase in the luteinizing hormone (LH) that can be detected in the urine.  The DISCOVER® 7 Day Pregnancy Planning Kit is over 98% accurate in laboratory testing in detecting the LH surge. A sperm can live for up to 3 to 5 days so pregnancy is most likely to occur by having intercourse within 24 - 36 hours after you detect the LH surge.
